December 1, 2010, i became 4 months into my natural hair journey. i am 1/3rd of the way through my first year being natural (yay!) Unfortunately, right now, i have a sew-in as a protective style for the winter so i cannot give update photos BUT my journey has truly been amazing through the fact that when i big chopped, my hair was this long *snaps fingers* i really had like no hair. lol and now, it has grown so much that i can actually braid it to be able to have a protective style such as a sew-in. A few things i've learned through my journey about my hair (though i know some things may change at a later time) are :
- my hair LOVES water (whose hair doesnt though?) lol
- my scalp is very moisturized while my hair strands vary alot from being moisturized to dry... (any tips to change this?)
- i never knew how dark my hair was. The middle is a more reddish/brown color :)
-shea butter and coconut or olive oil help my hair the best
- i found i had positive results when i massaged my hair morning and night (going back to that routine)
- i've never went so long without using a brush! lol in all of my 4 months, i havent used one
-detangling in the shower is INDEED your best option lol (believe me, i've tried all the ways lol)
what things have you learned about your hair and routines so far?
Congrats on your 4 Month Nappiversarry :-)
